RI Medical Assistance

The RI Medical Assistance Program, also known as "Medicaid," pays for medical and health related services for eligible adults over age 65.

Individuals over age 65 may be eligible for Medical Assistance if they are a Rhode Island resident and:

  • have a work history of less than 10 years that disqualifies them for Medicare and  have income at or below 100% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) and have resources (savings) of less than $4,000 for an individual or $6,000 for a couple 
                                           OR
  • meet the "flex test eligibility" for Medical Assistance
                                                     OR
  • if they qualify for Medical Assistance based on their need for Long Term Care services. For more information, see Medical Assistance Long Term Care.
