RIte Share
RIte Share is Rhode Island’s Premium Assistance Program that helps Rhode Island families afford health insurance through their employer by paying for some or all of the employee’s cost.
Eligibility is based on income and family size and is the same as the eligibility requirements for the RIte Care Program.
- Pregnant women (family's income less than 250 percent of the Federal Poverty Level-FPL)
- Children up to age 19 (family’s income less than 250 percent of the FPL)
- Parents with children under 18 (family's income less than 175 percent of the FPL)
Members whose income is less than 150 percent of the FPL, do not pay a monthly premium. Members whose income is more than 150 percent of the FPL pay a monthly premium of $61, $77 or $92 per month. See Federal Poverty Level Guidelines
First, complete an application for Medical Assistance (RIte Care/RIte Share). Need help completing the application? Visit a Family Resource Counselor near you or call the DHS Info Line at (401) 462-5300.
If you are determined eligible for Medical Assistance you will be notified by mail. Then, we will send you a letter and ask you to send us information on the health insurance plan that your employer offers (if your employer offers health insurance). After we receive that information, we can make a determination on whether your family qualifies for RIte Share.
