Medical Assistance Fee-For-Service Dental Services

Program Description

The Rhode Island Medical Assistance Program covers dental services for children under age 21. Families use their white Medical Assistance ID card when they get dental services for their child. Families need to call a dentist first, to see if he or she accepts Medical Assistance coverage. For more information on which dentists accept Medical Assistance coverage, see below.

Who Is Eligible

  • Children who have Medical Assistance coverage (RIte Care, RIte Share or Medical Assistance) who were born before May 1, 2000. These children are not eligible for RIte Smiles

  • Children who have Medical Assistance coverage and live in a residential facility

How to Apply

There is no need to apply for Medical Assistance dental services. When a child is determined eligible for Medical Assistance, they receive a white Medical Assistance ID card in the mail. Families need to bring their child’s white Medical Assistance ID card with them to the dentist’s office.
