    I applied for SNAP benefits. Why haven't I heard anything?

      If you typically receive benefits on the first of the month and you are wondering if you received benefits, you can go to ebtedge.com or call 1-888-979-9939 to check your balance.

      If you have been receiving benefits but did not receive them this month, it may be because your case has closed or an initial application or recertification form has not been processed. You can learn that status:

      Online: To manage your case online, visit HealthyRhode RI. Once your account has been set up, you may:

      1. • View your application status.
      1. • See forms you need to complete.
      1. • See if your have an interview scheduled or need to return documents to determine eligibility.

    What is the status of my application/recertification?

      If you applied for benefits within the past 30 days (90 days for Long Term Services and Supports or 7 days if you believe you were eligible for expedited SNAP), your application is still within the window for processing and you should receive a decision soon. You may inquire about the status of your application using the resources below:

      Online: To manage your case online, visit HealthyRhode RI. Once your account has been set up, you may:

      1. • View your application or recertification status to see if your application is approved, denied, or pending.
      1. • Learn the time of your interview or any verifications you need to provide to complete eligibility determination.

    How do I request a new SNAP/EBT card?

      Online: To request an EBT card online, visit HealthyRhode RI. Once your account has been set up, you may:

      1. • Get your EBT balance or report a lost/stolen card.
      1. • Apply for health and human service programs.
      1. • View your benefit information.
      1. • Report changes to your existing information.
      1. • Renew your benefits.
    • Phone: If your card is lost, stolen or damaged, you can request a replacement card by calling DHS at 1-855-MY-RI-DHS (1-855-697-4347), after selecting a language, select option #1. If you do not have your card number, remain on the line and you will be able to access information without the EBT card number.

      You may contact the phone number below to change your SNAP PIN.

      1. Phone: You need a PIN (Personal Identification Number) to use the EBT card. Call the RI EBT Card Customer Service Line at 1‐888‐979‐9939 to create or change your PIN. Alternate Payees must create their PIN in the DHS office. Never share your PIN with anyone or else they can use your benefits.
    • If you have just received your replacement EBT card:

      1. • This new card is active. You can use the PIN from your previous card. However, if you’d like to change your PIN, please call 1‐888‐979‐9939. If you had benefits on your account before your card was lost or damaged, those benefits will automatically be on this replacement card. If you have questions about using the EBT Card, call the 1‐888‐979‐9939 Service Line or visit http://www.ebtedge.com.

    How do I report a change of information?

      Online: You may report changes to your case by visiting HealthyRhode RI and managing your case online.

      Phone: You may report changes by calling 1-855-MYRIDHS (1-855-697-4347) and speaking with a DHS representative between Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

      In Person: You may report changes by dropping off verifications at your local DHS office.

      Mail: You may mail the completed change report form to:

      A change report form is available to be printed from the SNAP Other Forms page - Change Report Form section located on the DHS website.

      The following changes may impact the eligibility and enrollment of anyone in your household. They must be reported within 10 days of the date of the change.

      1. • Residential address
      1. • Mailing address
      1. • Income
      1. • Marital status;
      1. • Persons moving in or out of your home, or who is in your tax filing unit
      1. • Pregnancy status of any person in the household
      1. • Incarceration or institutional status
      1. • Access to other health insurance coverage including eligibility for Medicare or access to insurance through your job or through a family member’s job
      1. • Immigration or citizenship status
      1. • Birth, adoption, placement for adoption, marriage, divorce, or death
      1. • Federal income tax filing status; or
      1. • The number of tax dependents claimed on federal income taxes

    How do I cancel my benefits?

      Phone: You may cancel your benefits by calling 1-855-MYRIDHS (1-855-697-4347) and speaking with a DHS representative between Monday - Friday 8:30 am through 3:30pm.

    How do I schedule or reschedule an appointment?

      Phone: You may confirm or reschedule a face-to-face appointment by calling 1-855-MYRIDHS (1-855-697-4347) and selecting option #4.

      For phone interviews, call center staff can complete your interview at the time of your call if you have sent in all the necessary documentation.

      In Person: You can schedule or reschedule an appointment by visiting your local DHS office.

    How do I request verification or proof of my benefits?

      Online: If an award letter is sufficient proof of benefits, you may print that from your customer account online at HealthyRhode RI.

      Phone: You may request verification documents by calling 1-855-MYRIDHS (1-855-697-4347) and selecting option #3 to request a Benefit Decision Notice.

      In Person: You may request verification documents by visiting your local DHS office.

    How do I apply for benefits?

      If you are asked to provide further documentation, you have 10 days to provide the requested documentation to DHS.

    How do I recertify/renew my benefits?

      Households will receive a Recertification form in the 11th month of the certification period (or, for SNAP, the 23rd month of the certification period for households with all elderly or disabled members). The household must complete and submit this form by its due date, participate in an interview (for SNAP, RIW, or GPA) and provide required documents in order to continue to receive benefits beyond the end of the certification period.

      Sign and date the Recertification Form, include copies of the requested documents and submit it via:

      1. Phone: You can file an appeal regarding Medicaid and Private Health Coverage through HealthSource RI by calling HealthSource RI at 1-855-840-HSRI (4774). For questions about filing an appeal for human services programs such as SNAP, RIW, Child Care, GPA, or SSP call the Department of Human Services at 1-855-MY-RI-DHS (1-855-697-4347).
      1. In Person: You may drop off yourAppeal Form by visiting your local DHS office.
      1. Mail: complete this form and mail it to:
